TIL there are SKUNKS in my neighborhood. Poor little doggo got the pole cat pepper spray of doom tonight. 7 baths later (in every concoction we can find around the house) and she still reeks. I’m not sure if she’s more displeased with the “incident” or the multiple baths. Doggo is not having a happy night.

Did you try tomato juice?

Ouch! Poor pup.

Like Xylo asked, did you try Tomato juice? Hydrogen Peroxide is supposed to be good too.

That just sucks for everyone. My deepest sympathies. Good luck.

Tomato juice neutralizes skunk spray. No concoction needed.

Poor little thing!
Mine loves water, but she wants to get wet herself, so it’s still a bit of a combat to wash her. I’m lucky enough that one she’s completely wet, she won’t move until you let her go.
At least we don’t have skunks over here.
Good luck with the smell

We were through this twice when our cat was still around:

1 quart of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide

1/2 cup of Baking Soda

1 teaspoon of liquid soap

Rinse well after lathering, and keep out of eyes.

It’s not perfect, but we found it helps a lot.

You do know that no matter what, every time the poor girl gets wet, you will be reminded of her bad life choices

If traditional remedies don’t work pet stores and farm supply stores normally have a special skunk shampoo.

She hates water... always has. I used to walk both dogs sans leashes on a secluded beach when we lived in FL- she would go to great lengths to avoid touching water!

Her ears are letting me know this is not fun.

She’s still got a bit of lingering smell, but she’s happy as can be.
